In this issue we meet Amity’s Business Development Manager Anna-Marie Freeman and Coral Armistead, one of our Licensed Conveyancers.

Anna-Marie

Tell us a bit about your background!

I was born in Rossendale, but currently live in Accrington with my partner, daughter and two step daughters. I have worked in sales for around 20 years. My background was mainly contact centres which included managing teams, HR, Recruitment, training, working on projects until I was made redundant in 2019 and had a change of career into the property industry. I started working for Conveyancing Data Services/TM Group selling property searches and law tech to all the law firms in the North West of England, Cumbria and North Wales. So safe to say, I know them all! 😊 Outside of work I run a car club, which entails organising events, putting on club displays at shows, club camping, festivals and shows.

How long you have been in the industry?

Five years … I love sales, dealing with people, and building good working relationships.

What are your hobbies or interests?

Cars, car shows, organising events, camping and festivals.

Your favourite pass time?

Driving my 1972 VW Beetle in the summer.

Give us an interesting fact about yourself.

I have a phobia of deep water and can’t swim!

What do you do at Amity Law?

I am the Business Development Manager; bringing in new business and looking after relationships with our estate agents.

Coral Armistead

What is your background?

I was a director of a Hydraulic and Pneumatic company before deciding on a change of career and moved back to the South Coast to obtain my conveyancing qualification. Qualified in 2010, and have never looked back!

Do you have any hobbies?

My favourite pass time is Mud Obstacle Running (hence the photo!). I also enjoy kayaking, paddle-boarding, hiking, mountain biking, wild camping, baking.

Where are you from?

I’m originally from the South but have lived in the North West for the last 12 years. I’m single with one son, two grandchildren and one dog!

What do you love about the job?

The satisfaction of completion day and people moving into their dream/first homes, the fact that every day is different, and the pleasure of exceeding a client’s expectations.

Give us an interesting fact about yourself…

I trekked to Everest Base Camp in 2018, trekked to Mt Toubkal 2019, and I am trying to swim with sharks in Scotland but they’re never there when I try! I also used to live on a Narrow Boat.

Cyber-crime Notice - Cyber-Crime is on the increase, and you should be on the look-out for it to ensure that you do not become a victim. The Council for Licensed Conveyancers website contains a ‘Security’ webpage which provides members of the public with information about known scams in which the identity of a legitimate law firm or lawyer has been used for what are assumed to be criminal purposes (https://www.clc-uk.org/avoid-scams-when-buying-home/ ).

You should be aware of the possibility a fraudster might deliberately misrepresent themselves as a member of, or as someone acting on behalf of, or working with, Amity Law, for criminal purposes.

Such scams normally originate by email. Often the email will either promise the recipient a share of a large sum of money in return for paying a modest sum up front or request personal or financial information about the recipient or their bank account in order that money can be paid to them. In an attempt to give legitimacy or respectability to the scam, sometimes the email will direct the recipient to a false website that is a clone of a legitimate website.

If you receive an email purporting to come from Amity Law or a member of staff or if you are directed to a website which purports to be Amity’s website, and you have doubts or concerns about the authenticity of the email or website, please either contact the member of staff you normally deal with or email customerexperience@amitylaw.co.uk
